Registration data framework

This policy explains how registration data is collected, transferred, published, redacted and disclosed for domain services obtained through SoxDomains.com. It reflects the ICANN Registration Data Policy effective 21 August 2025 for applicable gTLDs. ccTLDs and other domains may follow different registry, registrar, governmental and legal requirements.

Role of SoxDomains.com

SoxDomains.com acts as an independent reseller and supplier. It is not an ICANN-accredited sponsoring registrar, registry operator, privacy or proxy provider's agent, legal representative, partner or employee. The sponsoring registrar and registry vary by TLD and transaction. Their identity can be determined through the Customer Account, applicable registration record or SoxDomains.com Support.

Data collected and transferred

SoxDomains.com collects the information reasonably required to create and administer the account, process the order, establish the registrant or Registered Name Holder, configure nameservers, bill the customer, provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with applicable contractual or legal requirements. Depending on the TLD, this may include name, organization, postal address, email, telephone number, eligibility information, identification or supporting documents, nameservers, transaction records, IP address and communications.

The historic model of separate registrant, administrative, technical and billing contacts is not a universal requirement. The required data elements depend on the TLD, sponsoring registrar, registry, registrant location and law. Required information may be transferred to the sponsoring registrar, registry operator, escrow provider acting for the contracted party, privacy or proxy provider, dispute-resolution provider, payment or fraud provider, ICANN where applicable, or a competent authority.

RDAP, WHOIS, publication and redaction

Public availability of registration data is not guaranteed and must not be assumed. Personal or other registration data may be redacted or withheld from RDAP, WHOIS or another public registration-data service when required or permitted by applicable policy or law. Redacted data remains subject to processing and may be available to authorized requesters through lawful disclosure mechanisms. Certain TLDs may require broader publication, and organization information may be treated differently when the Registered Name Holder confirms or consents to publication under applicable policy.

Accuracy and customer responsibility

The customer must provide accurate and reliable data, promptly correct and update it as required by the applicable registration agreement, and respond within 15 days to inquiries concerning accuracy. When the customer provides another person's data, the customer confirms that the person received required notices and that the customer has authority and any required consent. Material inaccuracy, failure to update or failure to respond may result in verification, hold, suspension or cancellation when permitted by the sponsoring registrar, registry or applicable policy.

Privacy or proxy service

When offered and selected, privacy or proxy may replace or redact certain public-facing data with provider-controlled information. It does not make the registration anonymous to SoxDomains.com, the sponsoring registrar, registry or authorized parties; establish ownership rights; guarantee that every communication will be forwarded; prevent lawful disclosure; or prevent a domain dispute, suspension, transfer or cancellation. Availability and operation vary by TLD and provider.

The customer must not use privacy or proxy to facilitate fraud, infringement, unlawful conduct, abuse or evasion of a valid investigation. The service may be suspended, disabled or disclosed when required by law, court order, applicable policy, provider procedure, actionable abuse evidence, a dispute proceeding, or protection of the DNS and persons. SoxDomains.com may forward an eligible request to the controlling provider and does not promise that it can independently conceal or disclose data controlled by another party.

Fees, communications and termination

Privacy or proxy fees are displayed at checkout and are non-refundable after submission or activation except where mandatory law requires otherwise. The customer must maintain a working account email and review forwarded communications. Cancellation of privacy or proxy does not cancel the domain. If the service ends, the registration may display redacted registrant data, provider data or registrant data according to the then-applicable policy; public display is not automatically guaranteed.

Retention, security and requests

SoxDomains.com retains registration and related records under its control for five years unless a shorter period is legally required or a longer binding registrar, registry or legal requirement applies. SoxDomains.com applies administrative, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the data and uses approved secure channels for identity documents. Requests concerning access, correction or the provider responsible for a domain may be sent to [email protected]. Abuse and lawful disclosure requests may be sent to [email protected].
