.EU: Changes to the Renewal Grace Period

Effective November 23, 2016, .eu domains would no longer have the renewal grace period described in the prior service workflow.

What the 2016 notice told customers

A .eu domain expiring on or after that date was expected to be deleted if it had not been renewed before expiration. The notice said a redemption period would remain, with a redemption fee added to the normal renewal charge when recovery was needed.

Customers were advised to renew before expiration unless they intended to release the domain. Current .eu lifecycle rules should be checked independently because this entry records a 2016 policy communication.
